The Center for Engaged Learning Open Access Book Series features concise, peer-reviewed books (both authored books and edited collections) for a multi-disciplinary, international, higher education audience interested in research-informed engaged learning practices.
Elon University’s Center for Engaged Learning is an international research center that fosters investigations of and resource development to support:
- how to do “high-impact” educational practices well and in diverse contexts,
- how to scale these practices equitably to all students, and
- how students integrate their learning across multiple, meaningful learning experiences.
Series books align with the Center’s mission to develop and to synthesize rigorous research on these central questions about student learning in higher education.
Books are available for free download as PDF files on the Center for Engaged Learning’s website, where readers can find additional open-access resources (e.g., videos, discussion questions, etc.) for each publication. Paperback versions of the books are available for sale through Parlor Press.
Since 2025, CEL has partnered with Parlor Press to offer these high-quality print versions of the series books for purchase.
