Graeme Harper Awarded the Order of Australia (AM)

A Parlor Press author has been recognized in King Charles III’s 2026 Birthday Honours List, for “significant service to Literature, to Education and to Creative Writing.”

Announced Monday, June 8, 2026 by the Governor-General of Australia, Graeme Harper, whose latest work of fiction (writing as Brooke Biaz) is Robots and Other People  (Parlor, 2026), has been awarded the Order of Australia (AM).

Graeme has published a wide range of fiction and academic monographs, and is an enthusiastic Parlor Press author.  He is editor of the international journal New Writing, Professor of Creative Writing, and Dean of the Young Honors College at Oakland University in Michigan, USA.

The Order of Australia was instituted by the Queen Elizabeth II in 1975, and “recognizes Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement.” The “Member of Order of Australia”, which replaced Imperial Honours, is considered equivalent to the award of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
