Prospective Authors

We welcome submissions from all authors and editors across a wide range of topics and genres. We do advise that you carefully review our series and submission guidelines following the links here:

Submission guidelines provide directions regarding the nature and format of what you'll need to send us, who to send it to or where to submit it, and more.

We occasionally publish new work as part of our general list, but we prefer to slot books in an existing series. So we encourage prospective authors to look at what we've published before, learn what series editors are looking for, and then see if we have mutual interests.

We especially welcome submissions from new and emergent authors of diverse backgrounds across a wide range of ethnicities, races, classes, and gender identities.

Current Authors and Editors

Throughout the process of publishing your book, we'll provide you with guidelines that cover a wide range of topics for manuscript preparation. We also will teach you ways that you can help us promote your work. We provide editors with guidelines for managing collections, which can be challenging for both their editors and the series editors/Parlor Press.

These Author Guidelines cover most of the production process and include permission forms, student consent forms, tips for preparing poetry manuscripts, links to additional resources and more.

Editing Resources

We keep an update list of "Tools for Copyeditors" that includes the standard reference guides used by authors, editors, and copyeditors as they prepare and edit manuscripts.

Marketing Survey

We ask all authors and editors to complete a detailed marketing survey so that we can prepare your book and plan its release and promotion to readers, reviews, and the media. Please return your survey response to your editor early in the production process.
